Gilbert Aragon
Spanish InstructorI teach Spanish to students in grades four, five, and six on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The classes are 50 minutes long.
While students do some reading and writing in Spanish, I emphasize oral language development. Students speak Spanish both in groups and individually. One of my major goals is for students to sound like native Spanish speakers. I use various techniques to achieve this goal, including teaching the correct tongue placement as students reproduce Spanish sounds. I also use a myriad of supplementary materials that I have acquired and created during my teaching career of 32 years.
I have a B.A. and M.A. in Education. My certification includes Modern and Classical Languages, TESOL, and Bilingual Education. I have taught Spanish to students in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. Besides teaching Spanish to native Spanish speakers, I have taught Spanish to monolingual English speakers and English to monolingual Spanish speakers. I have my Athletic Coaching License, and for 20 years coached basketball at both the elementary and high school levels.
This is my third year at Southwest Primary Learning Center. I look forward to another successful and rewarding year.
