The Lady STORM came ready to play Monday morning against the Albuquerque Home School A squad and it showed! When the STORM finished the first half they led by ten and when the game was over they had earned their fourth win against the young Angels this season, 46-25.

The win propels the STORM into the Albuquerque Charter School League semi finals tonight against Valencia County Home School, the number one girl’s seed in the tournament. The game will be played at 5:30 tonight at the Los Lunas Training School in Los Lunas.

The STORM, two-time defending champions in the League, have faced the Wildcats twice and dropped two close games. Head Coach Dan Rosecrans said, “They are a tough team to beat because they have the ability to hit the outside shots, dominate the inside and drive the ball. You have to play a complete game to beat this team, but we just need one complete game!”

GO STORM!

The SLC Boy’s team earned the number one seed in the Albuquerque Charter School League’s East division this season. That should mean a ticket to the final four….but the third seed from the West, Abundant Life Christian Academy also had a say in those plans yesterday. And when the dust settled in the SLC Gym Monday afternoon, the team moving forward was NOT the STORM.

The game was a back and forth affair with both teams leading at different times and each team fighting for the position that would give them the win. The Aquilas held the half time lead, 29-24 but the STORM closed that lead to 1 point by the end of three quarters of play. The fourth quarter was a wide open free for all, win or go home proposition. Four players, two from each team, fouled out of the game. The biggest loss was for the STORM who had closed the gap again and then lost Christian Gonzalez with just over two minutes left in the game. Gonzalez left the game with ten points, just behind scoring leader, Tyler Stevens who had 13.

In the end Abundant Life was able to hold off the STORM, 56-51.
